Laser hair removal works by using laser light energy to target the pigment in your hair. The laser emits energy in the form of light onto your skin. The melanin (color) in the hair absorbs this energy and converts it into heat, which then destroys the hair follicles. Future hair growth is prevented or stopped once the hair follicle is destroyed, leaving you with silky smooth skin. Pretty cool, right? Does Laser Hair Removal Hurt?

At worst, laser hair removal with our Splendor X laser feels faintly like a snapping rubber band or a "zinger." Most of our patients find that our laser provides the most comfortable laser treatment they've ever had. This is because of the dual cooling system, which combines chilled air with a cooled laser tip to double the numbing effects of the cold. The dual cooling system will also protect your skin from the risk of heat injury during treatment.

What Can I Expect After My Laser Hair Removal Treatment?

This will vary slightly from person to person, but the treatment requires no downtime and poses no interruptions to your day. A tiny bit of redness and swelling is completely normal and usually dissipates quickly after the treatment. After each visit, you will notice a reduction in hair regrowth.

When Will I See Results From My Treatments?

Is laser hair removal safe for all skin types?

Yes! Our laser blends two of the most effective wavelengths, YAG and ALEX, to customize each treatment specific to your skin type.

How often do I come in for a treatment?

Typically, patients come back every 4-8 weeks for a treatment.

How do I prepare for my laser appointment?

Avoid sun exposure and self-tanner for 2-4 weeks prior. Shave the area either the day of or the day before your appointment and avoid waxing, plucking, and threading for at least six weeks prior. Stop using all retinoids, alpha hydroxy acids, and photosensitizing medications for 7-10 days prior to the procedure.

Can I use other methods of hair removal between my laser treatments?

Yes! You can shave at any time between your laser appointments. All other methods of hair removal (plucking, tweezing, waxing) need to be avoided as these remove the hair follicle and will result in an ineffective treatment.

Does the hair need to be a certain color?

Yes, for laser hair removal to be effective, the hair must have color to it. The best candidates are those with black or brown hair. Unfortunately, the laser cannot “see” blonde, grey, or white hair.
