Your Microneedling Procedure

During a microneedling treatment in Orlando at Oppenheimer Plastic Surgery, I first numb the skin with a topical numbing cream. I then cleanse the skin. Using hyaluronic acid or PRP (your own platelet-rich plasma), the skin is then punctured with small and sterile needles using what looks like a pen. The pen is moved evenly across your skin during your treatment so that your new skin will grow evenly. The punctures are like pinpricks, and they only enter at the surface level. In fact, you probably won’t feel the pinpricks because of the topical lidocaine used before the procedure.

I will evaluate your skin and discuss with you the best way to get your desired outcome, likely combining microneedling with skin care products to be used at home.

Is microneedling painful?

There is minimal to no pain when it comes to undergoing a microneedling procedure. There is really no downtime except for minor skin irritation right after your treatment. Pinkness and a little bit of dry flaky skin for a day or two is expected.

Is microneedling effective?

When performed by me, your nurse practitioner in Orlando, microneedling can effectively decrease fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars, among other issues. Microneedling is surprisingly effective in many ways for people at different stages of their lives. Skin feels tight, youthful, and fresh as soon as a few days afterward.

What results can I expect from microneedling?

You should start to see results within a couple of days after your procedure. Your skin works pretty quickly to create and rejuvenate new tissue. The Recovery Period

  • You can expect to feel sensitivity for a few hours.
  • Any inflammatory effect on your skin is short and fades within hours.
  • Your skin may change from red to pinkish within 48 hours.
  • Expect to start peeling after three or four days.
  • Avoid itching/scratching at the treated area.
  • It is OK to use moisturizers and HA as directed.
  • Avoid any strenuous exercise for a day.
  • Avoid direct exposure to the sun for at least three days, preferably a week, and use SPF 50 or higher at all times.
  • You can use makeup to camouflage redness after the first few days.
